− Ace Cafe London to host launch of teen racing driver’s new 2016 race car −

Team HARD racing driver Damani Marcano will launch his all new 2016 Team HARD Racing Volkswagen Golf race car, with livery designed by BossDog Graphics, at the Ace Cafe London on Tuesday 23rd February 2016 from 6pm. Damani has recently announced his return to the Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup for his second season since moving to racing cars in early 2015. With the new season comes a new livery for his VW Golf GTI R Cup Car. BossDog Graphics are designing an all new young, fresh and striking design for Damani showcasing title sponsors The Clever Baggers’ branding. The aim is to create a livery unique to Damani, so striking that it becomes the most photographed car in the Volkswagen racing paddock.

Each month the Ace Cafe hosts meets of car and motorcycle enthusiasts across various marques and genres. On February 23rd, they host the VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) enthusiasts meet where up to 50 cars are on display, brought by enthusiasts from all over the country. Damani’s car will be the main attraction as it is unveiled for the first time. The build of the car and the unveiling will be included in a feature in Performance VW Magazine – the premier publication for enthusiasts of high-performance Volkswagen-group road cars.

During the evening, Team HARD will also be inviting enthusiasts to sign up for the Team HARD scholarship competition – a chance to win a fully sponsored racing season in 2017. This scholarship opportunity is open to any driver who thinks they have the talent to join Team HARD, alongside Damani, and compete in one of the most exciting racing series in the UK – the Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup. The event provides the perfect opportunity to see Damani’s new race car up close and get a feel for the kind of car the Team HARD scholarship winner could be racing in 2017.

Team HARD racing driver Damani Marcano comments: “I’m following the new build of the car as closely as I can with Team HARD and I’m talking with them regularly about exactly what improvements I’d like made to it from last year. We’re also talking with potential new sponsors about parts they’d like to showcase in the car but obviously staying very selective about what we use. BossDog Graphics are designing the livery again for 2016, and we’re all working to make sure that 2016 is a big season for me. I’ve seen some early designs and all I can say is the car is going to look absolutely stunning! I can’t wait to show it to everyone at the Ace Cafe!”

Damani was spotted by Team-HARD. Racing in 2014 and became the youngest driver they had ever signed. Too young to hold a driving licence and never having raced a car before, Damani went on to set records in 2015. Aged 16, he became the youngest driver to finish in the points in the first round of a Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup season and was the youngest to complete a season in the series in its 15 year history. He ended the year in the top-7 on pace, challenging experienced adult drivers. As a guest driver in the VAG Trophy, Damani also became the youngest driver to qualify on the front row and obtain fastest lap in a race.

Damani’s race car is a light-weight race-prepared, 260bhp 410Nm 2.0L turbo Volkswagen Golf capable of speeds up to 150mph. Weighing only 1275kg, fully fuelled with driver and additional ballast, the car sits on race-spec coil-over suspension with remote-reservoir damper adjustment and has 360mm brakes inside 18″ alloys wearing slick racing tyres. The acceleration, braking and cornering speeds that the car is capable of would be a handful even for the most competent of road drivers.
